Basis of our belief

We believe that the bible is the word of God and what it says shall come to pass. Matthew 5:18 it says, “For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished.” If so, what did Jesus say about his second coming?

Jesus said in John 14:2-3, “In my father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”

The Angels also confirmed Jesus’ second coming at His ascension in Acts 1:11 that, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

When will Jesus return?

No one knows the date and time when Jesus will return. In Mark13:32-33, we read that, “But of the day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch; for you do not know when the time will come.”

We must be vigilant and alert for he will come any time soon like a thief in the night. He has been gone for long but reckoning the time, we read in 2 Peter 3:8 that, “But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

Purpose of Jesus’ return

Jesus is coming as a judge to judge the world. John 12:48 says, “He who rejects me and does not receive my sayings has a judge; the word that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day.” John 5:22 confirms that, “The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son.” Jesus is coming to take his elect with him. John 14:3 says, “And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”

He is  also coming to separate the evil from the righteous. Matthew 13:49 says, “So it will be at the close of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous.” Jesus will also gather all nations and thereupon separate the sheep from the goats, and will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left, Matthew 25:32-33. It will be a time to reward those who were not ashamed of him and his words, Mark 8:38; Luke 9:26

Make a decision

In Matthew 10:28 and Luke 12:4-5 it is recorded that, “I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear him!”  It will be a very fearful event on the day of Jesus’ return. He shall be a judge without mercy and will open the gates of hell to sinners. Where do you want to spend eternity, in Heaven or in Hell?

Preparing for Jesus’ coming

Matthew 7:21says, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father  who is in heaven.” We also read in Matthew 10:33 that, “But whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” Jesus referred to the conduct of the Pharisees and Scribes in Matthew 5:20 to show the required standard of obedience  we need.

Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well”. Matthew 3:2 says, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” And in verse 8 it says, “Bear fruit that befits repentance.” Mark 1:15 says, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” Peter in Acts2:38 says baptism follows repentance.

Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” This is why Jesus said in Matthew 11:28 that, “Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” It is only Jesus who can give you rest. He is our savior now, but will be our judge on his coming. Why not take this advantage now? He is still calling with open arms.
