What is it?

A Constitution is a codified or non-codified body of laws that is supreme to all other laws or to which other laws are subordinate. God’s Constitution is His word and it is supreme to all gospel literature. Any subordinate law that is inconsistent with a Constitution is to the extent of the inconsistency, void. This includes any publication or circular law. In John 1:1 we read that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  God’s word is He Himself and therefore above all.

A Constitution is for its citizens who are identified as nationals. A citizen of the Kingdom of God is one who has the seal of Jesus Christ in his life; called by His Spirit and washed in the blood of Jesus Christ.  2 Corinthians 1:21-22 says “But it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has commissioned us; he has put His seal upon us and given us his spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”

A Constitution may be written in whole or in part. So is the word of God, partly in the form of the Bible and partly inspired by Him through many channels and diverse forms including prophecy, direct messages, visions, discerning gifts etc. A nation or Kingdom is usually with physical borders or boundaries. However, God’s Kingdom transcends physical or geographical borders even into the spiritual. Mark 16:15 says “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.”

Objects and breaches

The purpose of a Constitution is to promote peaceful co-existence, and harmony among men. Mark 9:50 says, be at peace with one another. Romans 12:18 says, if possible, so far as it depends upon you, live peaceably with all. The breach of a constitution attracts sanctions. The breach of God’s word is punishable by eternal condemnation into the lake of fire in Hell prepared for Satan and his demons. Ezekiel 18:20 says “The soul that sins shall die.” Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Biblically, a breach may include, breach of rights when we offend a neighbor; breach of fiduciary duty when we neglect a neighbour’s need; acting without mandate when we pursue our selfish desires; contempt of God when we disparage God and His Son Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour; perjury when we knowingly tell lies on God’s word, the Bible; and treason when we patronize other gods; and generally disobeying God’s instructions, among others.

Notice of the Word

An apparent lack of knowledge of a Constitution is no excuse for breach. Ignorance of the law is also no excuse because you are deemed to know. God has however made exceptions for persons who have not heard of His word. They would be judged by a different standard. It does not cover those who have heard His word but rejected Him. Romans 2:12 says “All who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.”

We have had enough notice through His servants, prophets, evangelists, teachers, disciples, and all who identify with Him and witness in His favour. There is therefore no excuse for a second chance. Luke 16:29 says “But Abraham said, ”They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them”; and the verse 31 says, “He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.” Please read the full account from Luke 16:19-31.

Conduct of trial

In our world, the conduct of a trial must be devoid of fear or favour, affection or ill-will. Prosecution is usually before a competent judge who is seized with jurisdiction. Jesus Christ will be our judge on the authority of God the Father, and before the courts in heaven. John 5:22-23 says “The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He who does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who sent him.” Also Acts 17:31; James 4:12 say “There is only one lawgiver and the judge, who is able to save and to destroy.” This refers to Jesus.

Need for repentance

The verdict is acquittal or committal up to life. God’s judgment is limited to eternity either with God or with Satan in hell fire. Matthew 25:41 says “Then He will say to those on His left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” Verse 46 says,”And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Take heed for “it is appointed unto man to die once and thereafter comes judgment”, Hebrews 9:27

Hebrews 10:26 says that after having knowledge of God, sin leaves us with only the prospect of judgment. We also appreciate that in Hebrews 10:31 that “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. In this regard, we have to be obedient to God and to work out our salvation with fear and trembling as recorded in Philippians 2:12

Prayer

Lord Jesus, we pray that the bible and your word shall be our guide in this life and hereafter so we may walk in righteous and holiness to be pleasing in your sight. Jesus, in your precious name we pray. Amen.
