We need to know and understand the nature of battle that confronts us in this world. We accuse one another without knowledge or appreciating our battles so we cannot forgive from our hearts. We do not adapt the right approach or seek help from the right source.
Ephesians 6:12 says that, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this word, against spiritual wickedness in high places. This is the character of our battles that manifest in the physical. It starts from our conception to our birth through life till death. It touches every aspect of our lives irrespective of age, colour or race, gender, creed or belief, career or profession, wealth, position, geographical location, day or night.
Purpose of the battle
In John 10:10, Jesus said the thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy but he come that we might have life, and have it more abundantly. In effect the battle is to take away or deny us everything we love, cherish, have toiled for, or garnered. God’s purpose through Jesus Christ is the very opposite. We should therefore be alert, always praying without ceasing.
Our capacity
We are limited in wisdom, knowledge, discipline and power to succeed in the battle. Jesus who knows our frailty has provided the needed support for us to succeed without fetters to our discretion of choice, either to accept or reject his offer. Jesus knows how intense the battle is, and how feeble we are so he says in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that his grace is sufficient for us and his strength is perfected for us in our weakness. This grace has no limit as to time, place, circumstance or nature of battle.
Jesus’ capacity
Colossians 1:16 says Christ is the image of the invisible God, the first born of every creature: For by him were all things in heaven and in the earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers were created by him, and for him. Hebrews 12:9 says we will live when we be in subjection unto the Father of spirits.
Ephesians 1:21 says, by Jesus’ resurrection God has put him above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come. Therefore, Jesus is the only qualified and worthy authority to fight our battles for us.
Approaching the battle
By the nature of the battle, it cannot be resolved physically by accusing one another or by any act of vengeance against one another. It can and must be resolved as a spiritual battle because the forces that engage this battle are spiritual agents who work through weaker bodies of men. When we shift focus from the spiritual to the physical, we fight amiss the true battle and become laughable.
Romans 10:13 says whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (protected). Proverbs 18:10 says the name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runs into it, and is safe. Psalms 50:15 or Psalms 91:15 says call upon his name in the day of trouble and he will deliver you and honour you.
Matthew 11:28 says, come to me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 1 Samuel 17:47 says for the battle is the LORD’S. Allow the LORD to fight the battle.
Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, clothe me with your righteousness through your blood in my repentance. Then help me to trust in you always without leaning on my own wisdom or strength in battle. Let me acknowledge you in all things so that you shall direct my path for you know the battle that confronts me. Amen!!
