We honour the resurrection of Jesus from the dead on Easter because Christ is our victory story.  1 Corinthians 15: 54-55 say for this perishable nature must put on the imperishable, and this mortal nature must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting? What nature are we wearing before Christ Jesus?

Paul’s word of the resurrection

In summary, 1 Corinthians 15: 12-19 say now if Christ is preached as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? If that were the case, then we are even found to be misrepresenting God that he raised Jesus Christ, whom he did not raise. Then those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. God’s word and the evidence of Christ’s resurrection are true and overwhelming. We must tell them as they are without adulteration or misrepresentation to the world.

From1 Corinthians 15: 20-23 Paul says further for as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive and Christ’s death, then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom of God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power for he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. Paul talks about the resurrection power in 1 Corinthians 15: 24-28 for God has put all things in subjection under his feet and it is plain that Christ who put all things under him is accepted. This makes God everything to everyone. Our victory is in the power of Christ’s resurrection.

In summary, true believers in Christ Jesus share common faith on Easter Sunday and always as follows:

Christ Jesus holds the key to life

Revelation 1: 17-18 say fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one; I died, and behold I am alive for evermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. Jesus holds the keys to our lives and our death. We cannot live without him. Let us reevaluate our stands with Jesus the risen Lord. He holds the keys to eternity and without him there will be no eternity for us.

Christ Jesus is our Saviour

Luke 2: 11 says the angels who announced Jesus’ birth said for you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. Jesus came into the world as the Saviour of the world. His mode of saving us was by his death on the cross and victory of his resurrection. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, but by me. Matthew 11: 15; 13: 9, 43; Mark 4: 9, 23; Luke 8:8; 14: 35 say let him who has ears to hear, let him hear. Our salvation is in Jesus Christ only.

Christ Jesus is our hope of glory

In John 12:32 Jesus said, and I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself. Christ Jesus has been lifted up in glory, honour, and sits in majesty forever. He beckons us to join his company, why wait or look elsewhere? John 14:2-3 say in my father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

Christ Jesus is exalted above all

Philippians 2:9-11 say that therefore God has exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Join us to celebrate Christ Jesus for his victory on the cross and the grave which is our eternal inheritance.

Christ Jesus demands we live anew

Easter is a commemorative day when Jesus proved his divinity and reaffirmed his unlimited power over nature, life and death. It is a day when Jesus gave us free lease of life, renewal and restoration. It is a day when Christ possessed his seat above at the right hand of God and mediates for us. It is a day when we must rise from sin to righteousness; from darkness into his light; from blindness into his vision; from abasement to his glory; from rejection to his acceptance; from disunity to oneness in him; and from hopelessness to hopefulness. Let Christ Jesus rise in us to all our challenges in his holy name.

Christ Jesus will come again

Jesus said in John 14:2-3, in my father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. This is an assurance of hope which we must not refuse or miss. Are we ready? Jesus will surely return just as fulfilled his word to resurrect on the third day of his crucifixion. Titus 1:2 says that God never lies

Acts 1:11 says men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven. Revelation 22: 20 says SURELY I AM COMING SOON. AMEN. COME, LORD JESUS! Are we ready for the second coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ? This time he will not be a Saviour but our final Judge for eternity. We must be reminded that Hebrews 10:31 says it is a terrible thing to be an enemy of God.

Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, we rejoice in your victory from the grave over death. Let our joy in you be full in you. Banish our fears with boldness. Heal our doubts with faith. Replace our confusion with peace. Let your resurrection power resonate throughout the world. Go before us in all situations so we may not be lonely.  Let your blood be our covering. In your holy blood, restore us to life, Amen!!
