On the last day, we will have so many questions to answer to God. There will be no favours on that scary day because God will judge in righteousness. It is written in Genesis 18: 25, shall not the judge of all the earth do what is just? David also wrote in Psalms 9: 8, he judges the world with righteousness; he judges the peoples with equity. We shall be judged based on our hearts and minds, Jeremiah 11: 20.
Our excuses may be summed up in one statement: we did not know that our thoughts and deeds constituted sin. Both the questions and answers are contained in scriptures. Hosea 4: 6 says my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge; … And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
God asked these questions through Paul sent to minister to us the Gentiles so we may adequately prepare by our thoughts and deeds before the final day comes. Led by the Holy Spirit, we will repeat these questions and pray that we will jointly search the bible for the answers and live by what the bible says. What are some of these questions?
Are we baptized into Christ?
Paul asked in Romans 6: 3, do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Those who are baptized into Christ have been purchased with his blood and transferred to God in righteousness. We have died to sin in Christ Jesus by grace THROUGH faith and must remain alive in Him.
God’s grace is not justification for any reckless life but righteousness. Paul said to those who do otherwise in Romans 6: 1, should we continue in sin in order that grace may abound? Wasting the grace of God is equally a sin just like any other sin. The grace presents us faultless before the throne of God by the blood of Christ Jesus, the sacrificed paschal lamb of God, 1 Corinthians 5: 7. Do we believe we have been baptized into Christ Jesus and consequently into his death?
Are we obedient slaves?
Paul asked in Romans 6: 16, do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? Are we avowed slaves to sin?
When we reject knowledge from God, we instantly submit to Satan and become his obedient slaves in iniquity and will suffer death. The way of the ungodly says Jeremiah 23: 12 shall be to them like slippery paths in darkness, into which they shall be driven and fall. This is the fate of slaves to Satan and to sin. What will be our answer on the Day of Judgment?
Are we under God’s law?
Paul asked in Romans 7: 1, do you not know, brothers and sisters– for I am speaking to those who know the law– that the law is binding on a person only during that person’s lifetime? Many aspects of our statutes and laws conflict with scripture and those of us who subscribe to them will only be covered in our lifetime on earth but in death, we will all be subject to only God’s divine laws.
Paul wrote in Ephesians 5: 15, be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. Read also Deuteronomy 5: 32; Ezekiel 20: 19. Is it wise to obey God’s eternal divine laws or our temporary statutes and laws? Let God be first in all things having become aware of what laws by which we shall be judged on the final day.
God’s temple is in us
Paul asked in 1 Corinthians 3: 16, do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? Our bodies are God’s prime temples where he dwells by his Spirit so we are not our own, 1 Corinthians 6: 19. In Matthew 21: 12; Mark 11: 15; John 2: 14-15, Jesus overturned the tables and the seats of the money changers who desecrated the temple. How do we treat God’s temple, our bodies?
Paul cautioned in 1 Corinthians 10: 31, so whatever you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God. He said in Colossians 3: 17 and whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Does everything about us glorify God in the name of Christ Jesus? Do we keep our bodies sacred as God’s temple and dwelling? Just like Jesus did to the money changers, so will he do to those who desecrate their bodies in sin.
We are members of Christ’s body
Paul asked in 1 Corinthians 6: 15, do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Should I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! We are members of Christ because Jesus said in John 15: 5, I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.
We must keep our bodies pure and holy. 1 Peter 1: 15 says as he who has called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all conduct; for it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy”. To whose body do we belong or are members? If we belong to Jesus, have we truly kept it for Christ as we should? Paul said in Romans 11: 21, for if God did not spare the natural branches, perhaps he will not spare you.
James 3: 12 asked, can a fig tree, my brothers and sisters, yield olives, or a grapevine figs? No more can salt water yield fresh. We cannot escape God’s wrath with sin. Repentance in Christ Jesus is the answer.
Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, there are tons of questions we decline to answer though we shall answer on the final day before your judgment seat. Thank you for reminding us to take a second look at our standing before you. Awaken our consciousness to be true and honest to your questions so we may apply ourselves to heavenly wisdom and be ready when the trumpet sounds. We pray in your holy name, Amen!!
