We continue to mock God by rejecting Jesus Christ knowing he shall be our judge on the last day. His grace is still abundant for us. There is time for everything, Ecclesiastics 3:6. Therefore the time to accept Jesus and avoid hell is now. It is a place for those who curse and mock God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

To refresh your knowledge about hell, it is a place of burning fire, sulphur, brimstone and choking smoke; torment in solitude and in chains; deprivation and perpetual pain. It is without any opportunity for escape, repentance or reform; no help, friends or sympathisers but ridicule and hate. It is without any light but thick darkness and slippery bottomless shaft with fearful plague.

Do we still mock God?

We must cease to be men who cursed God for our situations, Revelation 16:21. Men who engage in shameful things end with eternal death, Romans 6:21. Hell is no place of peace so Isaiah 59: 8 says no one who goes in the way of injustice knows peace. In any place or position we are, let us be careful when we have to dispense justice or judgement to another. We must do so with the spirit of Christ.

We have our names written in the book of life if we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and saviour Revelation 20: 14. Thereafter we must strictly obey his words. Galatians 6:7 says do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he shall also reap. We will reap death and sorrow if we opt to deceive or mock Jesus. Christ was not abandoned in Hades because he had no sin, Acts 2:31. We can also not be abandoned if Christ Jesus washes our sins away.

Are we confused?

We are perhaps confused as to who we should fear. Jesus has the keys of death and Hades, Revelation 1:18. Jesus said in Matthew 10:28 and Luke 12:4-5 that I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear him. The person to fear is Jesus because he is going to be our judge on the final day.

John 12:48 says he who rejects me and does not receive my sayings has a judge; the word that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day.  John 5:22 affirms Jesus as the final judge saying the Father judges no one, but has given all judgement to the Son. Our bodies belong to God as his temple and if anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him, 1 Corinthians 3: 17. The body is not meant for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body, 1 Corinthians 6:13. Some engage in immorality to put God to a test. We must not put the Lord to test, 1 Corinthians 10: 9. There is only one law giver who is able to save and destroy and he is Jesus Christ, James 4:12. Do not be confused or doubt it.

Are we afraid to die?

To those of us who are afraid to die yet resisting Jesus, the bible says all who shrink back from Jesus’ call shall be destroyed, Hebrews 10: 39. The last enemy to be destroyed is death, 1 Corinthians 15:26. Jesus destroyed death on the cross and by his resurrection for those who love him and are his. No wonder Paul gladly teases in 1 Corinthians 15:55 that O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting? We need to avoid insatiable sins and unsteady souls with trained hearts for greed, 2 Peter 2:14

Unless we bear fruits, we shall be axed down from the roots and thrown into the fire, Matthew 3:10; 17:19; Luke 3:9. Jesus says when we brand another as a fool shall be liable for the unquenchable fire, Matthew 5:22. To follow Jesus we need to possess a bridle tongue at all times, James 1: 26. Our tongue is to edify, bless and praise God and not to curse and destroy. We cannot have a double tongue, 1Timothy 3:8. Our tongue could destroy us if we are not careful, James 3:5-8.

Whoever does not abide in Jesus shall be cut off and thrown into hell fire, John 15:6. Each man’s work shall be tested by fire so we cannot hide our deeds, 1 Corinthians 3:13-15. This is because God is a consuming fire, Hebrews 12:29. Let us not embrace hell fire. It is getting too late for eternity. Better late than never for very soon the trumpet shall sound. Hell has no reverse gear. Let us submit to Jesus now for tomorrow may be too late.  We pray for our souls to find comfort and acceptance in Christ Jesus.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thou who holds the keys to life and death save us from the gates of hell and abide with us till eternity. In your holy name we pray, Amen!!
