Christians refer to Jesus Christ as our Lord. However, most of us fail to accord him with a deserving attitude in our lives. Our deeds deviate from our utterances. We do not in truth mean what we say of Jesus Christ. This is because we either lack true knowledge of the type of Jesus’ Lordship or we just refuse to accept his Lordship or we are ashamed of him or for other reasons.

Whoever is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of man also be ashamed, when he comes in glory of his Father with the holy angels, Mark 8:38; Luke 9:26. Paul therefore said I am not ashamed of the gospel: it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek, Romans 1:16. We must not be ashamed to testify to our Lord, 2 Timothy 1:8.

The angels pronounced in Luke 2:11 that Christ is Lord. Acts 10:36 says Jesus Christ is Lord of all. Philippians 2:11 says all confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. The bible says that in your hearts reverence Christ as Lord, 1 Peter 3:15. What kind of Lord is Jesus and what is Jesus’ Lordship about? What is the nature of Jesus’ Lordship?

  • Lord of the word, 1Timothy 6:3

Paul says in Colossians 2:6 that as therefore you receive Jesus Christ as Lord, so live in him. We now know or have some limited knowledge of the truths about the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We must then in utmost humility accord Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour the befitting reverence and honour. His Lordship over God’s creation is forever and will not change.

The Lord of our lives knows all and everything about us. He is calling us to surrender in obedience through his immaculate blood and healing wounds. Let us come to Jesus whom we did not know. In him we live and move and have our being, Acts 17:28

Prayer

Lord Jesus, you are the king and Lord of my life and all about me. I invite you into my heart. Forgive me of my disobedience and doubts about you. Wash me in your precious blood and save my wretched and perishing soul today. In your holy name I pray, Amen!!
