Psalms 34:2 says: “My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and be glad”. What the Psalmist is seeking to do is to encourage all who are afflicted in diverse ways to embrace the prerequisite for successful preservation and permanent solution to what they have achieved by God’s grace, because the neglect of God is the foundation of failure.
In Joshua 23:15 it is recorded that: “But just as all the good things which the LORD your God promised concerning you have been fulfilled for you, so the LORD will bring upon you all the evil things, until he has destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you”. This is a warning to those who disregard the Lord’s relevance when they achieve success.
God’s security
No one want’s to waste but to preserve his acquired wealth in life, except when reckless. However, the security in this world does not measure up to the challenge of eternity. Job 22:18 says “Yet he filled their houses with good things, but the counsel of the wicked is far from me”. Luke 11:21 says “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace.” Mark 3:27 puts it this way, “But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man; then indeed he may plunder his house.” See also Matthew 12:29.
Do not be stubborn in heart as you hear His voice now. Hebrews 3:8 says “do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness”. Luke 6:49says “ But he who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation; against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”
Unstable minds
To my doubting friends who do not believe in God, soberly ponder over these quotes. 1 Corinthians 3:19 says,” For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness”. In 1 Corinthians 1:25 it is written, “For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men”. We need divine wisdom to appreciate God’s security. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all men generously and without reproaching, and it will be given.
We affirm our faith in Christ Jesus with 1 Corinthians 3:11 that “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ”. 1 Peter 2:7 says “To you therefore who believe, He is precious, but for those who do not believe, “The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner”. Psalms 14:1; 53:1 say “The fool says in his heart, “There is no God”. We pray that you will make Christ Jesus the Head of your corner stone in your life and all you do.
Prayer
May the Lord Jesus Christ guide you to lay up for yourselves, treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal (Matthew 6:20 ). May the Lord be your strength and guide as you to take this step of boldness in His name. AMEN!!! Shalom!!!
