Biblically, there are other morning stars, Job 38: 7. We are not told who they were; however when they sang together, all the heavenly beings shouted for joy. All true morning stars come from heaven.  Peter says there is a morning star that differs from the rest. He said in 2 Peter 1: 19, So, we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this as a lamp shining in the dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in our hearts. Peter referred to Jesus Christ as the confirmed prophecy that Christ Jesus must first shine in our hearts from the morning.

Peter implied that the stars which Job referred to, are offshoot stars of Christ Jesus which together work up to Christ Jesus as one bright star, the source of the true light. By Peter’s prophetic message, the morning star which is Christ Jesus illuminates the dark alleys in our hearts until the dawn and start of our redemption. Then Jesus’ bright star will rise to prominence in our lives only if we obey God. Are we true offshoots of the true bright morning star and by which Jesus will be glorified and honoured?

Why is Jesus the bright morning star?

Jesus’ light shines above all lights except the father. Jesus said in John 8: 12, “I am the light of the world.” Christ Jesus awards the morning star if we conquer, Revelation 2: 26-28. No star can be greater than the star which gave birth to it. Jesus said in John 13: 16 very truly, I tell you, servants are not greater than their master, nor are messengers greater than the one who sent them. Read also John 15: 20

A star is a victor and Jesus Christ the only one who has conquered Satan. It is written in Colossians 2: 15, he dismantled the rulers and authorities and made a public example of them, trampling over them in it. There is none greater than Christ Jesus or brighter star than Jesus because he has won the greatest battle of all time. Jesus the great morning star overshadows all-stars combined even in daylight. Jesus said in Revelation 22: 16, I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star. Christ Jesus is the only root of light for spiritual conquerors and without him, no star will have light.

Other stars may be subject to intervening circumstances such as the clouds but Christ Jesus is not subject to anything. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15: 41, star differs from star in glory. The star of Christ Jesus is the epitome of victory, eternal peace and comfort. Jesus expects us to shine in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, Philippians 2: 15

Other stars may fall and lose their light but Jesus is light forever. Isaiah 13: 10 says for the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light. In other words, no star is guaranteed as permanent except the bright morning star, Christ Jesus. Other stars may not be true stars but Jesus is. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 11: 14 even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Other stars are subject to other powers but Christ Jesus is the ultimate power in God. Whose stars are we?

How can we become morning stars?

We were all born as stars of Christ Jesus but many have lost their light. So, God sent Jesus to restore our light through repentance in him by faith. John says in Revelation 2: 26-28, To the one who conquers I will also give the morning star. Jesus says he will give every conqueror of the faith the morning star.

Conquest can be achieved only through the blood of Christ Jesus who is our eternal shining light. Jesus said in John 16: 33, I have conquered the world! We therefore must first have Christ personally in order to be shining stars as conquerors. 1 John 4: 4 says little children, you are from God, and have conquered them; for he one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. We can only be part of the bright morning star if we are saved by grace. We must always be faithful to God doing his will in strict obedience. Jesus says we must be the light of the world to give hope to the perishing. Are we?

Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, the light in our stars is getting dim because of sin. Please redeem us in your blood and give light to our stars of which you are the source. Help us that by our stars, we may direct the lost back to you and give life to the perishing. Continue to be our bright morning star throughout the ages. Help us to know the true stars so we may not be misled away from you. We pray in your holy name, Amen!!
